Van Van orchestra, directed by Juan Formell, sets a record at Cubadisco 2009 International Fair, by winning in five categories, among them the Grand Prix. The CD-DVD Aquí el que baila gana includes a live concert of the emblematic orchestra celebrated in 2006 at Karl Marx Theater and it was considered one of the most important cultural events of the last decade in Cuba. On prestigious EGREM label, the CD attracts people mainly for its incomparable sonority and so distinctive of Van Van and such a Cuban rhythm that has made more than one hip to get out of control in Cuba and abroad. Award in Testimony Category (documentary of an extraordinary cultural value). Audiovisual Concert (excellent set design), CD-DVD (deluxe case) and Live Recording (it catches the environment of an audience captivated by Van Van), placing this orchestra as the most awarded in the history of this event. In the category of Live Recording it is again the DVD Aquí el que baila gana, by Juan Formell and Los Van Van (EGREM) and in the Design category the work Venir al mundo, by Nelson Ponce (Colibrí). Van Van won the CD-DVD Award, while the Sound Track Award went to the film Los Dioses rotos , by filmmaker Antonio Leyva and Magda R. Galván (Sonata Music and Bis Music); in the category of Multimedia, Arnaldo y su Talismán won the award (EGREM)

Documentary Award: Marcos Madrigal in crescendo, by Gloria Argüelles, (ICAIC); Making Off: Clásicos cubanos del Siglo XIX , by Marcelo Marín and Daniel Diez (jr)

And the Video Clip Award went to Revolución from the CD Amigos, by Raúl Paz, directed by Orlando Cruzata, Rudy Mora, Lester Brito (Sandalia Music and Bis Music)

In the category of Children´s Video Clip, the award went to the work Con Pubertad , by Ernesto Piña and Wilbert Noguel

Soy la décima guajira (EGREM), by Sonia Pérez, won the Discographic Notes Award
