Music and Children
It is not a coincidence the main topic for XIII Cubadisco 2009 International Fair is Music and Children because the different kinds of music, from Cuba or any other region of the world, are part of the sonorous universe that surrounds man since he was born, he interacts with this environment, identifies with it, gets used to it and gets educated on it.
Music for children and citizens in general is part of daily life, from the most significant things to the most trivial ones. In this sense José Martí considered that music is indefinitely beating on the space . The development of the new communication and information technologies has facilitated this interactive process between the citizen and the music of the world.
This artistic expression contributes to achieve positive and satisfactory emotional states, and to develop sensitivity, which is reflected in the interpersonal relationships, behavior and appropriate use and enjoyment of free time. Nowadays it is an unquestionable fact the effect music may cause in girls´ and boys´ education. When it is part of the spiritual wealth of man, a fuller life and a transforming and highly creative understanding of the world is achieved.
Dedicating a special space to Music and Children is a way to reflect the maturity of Cuban culture, art and education. With this highly pertinent determination, it is given continuity to the satisfaction process of spiritual, social, cultural, artistic and educational children´s needs, which are in great demand, from the music peculiarity.
Many artistic activities have been planned for it, where children will play leading roles and will enjoy concerts, recitals and a varied music production in different places.
The International Symposium will be the ideal context to discuss about subjects such as the sonorous environment and musical preferences; what kind of music children should listen to?; the different kinds of music in their daily life; is there any particular music for boys and girls?
The session is open from now on. Let´s consider these questions.
