CUBADISCO PRIZE BASIS
 
     
 

Every year from 1997 the CUBADISCO AWARD takes place which purpose is the recognition of and stimulus to quality of record production in Cuba and the contribution to its promotion and diffusion. 

The Committee of the CUBADISCO AWARD is made up of well known musicologists, Cuban journalists, and image and the sound specialists. The results will be given on May 20th, 2006 during the development of The X International Fair Cubadisco 2006. 

Only musical discography productions published by Cuban and foreigners record companies officially registered in Cuba will be able to participate, or those foreign publishing seals whose product is distribute in the conuntry and any other musical production contained in the bases and categories in competition. 

   
The categories to be rewarded in the gala will be the following ones:

-Soun Band
-Song
-DVD
-Graphic design
-Discography notes
-Recording
-Opera prima
-Current dancing music
-Soloist concertante (instrumental and vocal)
-Choral music

 

-Fusion
-Concert music (symphonic, camera, electroacustic)
-Jazz
-Tradicional popular music
-Vocal music
-Folkl music
-Producer of the year
-Trova/Pop/Rock
-Music for children
-Instrumental music/Vocal instrumental music
-Rap/Dance/Hip-Hop
-Multimedia

  -Video Clip
-Documentary on music
 
Besides the prizes for category, the Award Committee grants the following prizes:
  Special prizes: To productions with particular or exceptional value, not included in another category.
  Prize of honor CUBADISCO: At the proposal of the Director of the National Phonography Office and the President of the Award Committee. It will be granted to foreign and Cuban personalities and cultural institutions that have made exceptional contributions to the creation, discography promotion and musical works of great cultural and social significance.
  Great prize: It will be chosen, only considering the productions that are rewarded in the different categories. It will be granted to be musical record production with the highest quality.
