Welcome Speech
Every year CUBADISCO has been honoring a certain country, as a chance to fully enjoy its music and the possibility of exchange experiences and projects with entrepreneurs, musicians, experts and specialists. Spain, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Mexico and Germany have made contributions with the most outstanding musical legate to former occasions.
This VIII edition will revere the Caribbean, to which we are linked through our ancestors, history, climate, seas, art, culture and specially music, the highest expression of our identities. If someone quoted that Cuba is "the music reservation of the planet", we could also say that "the Caribbean is the region of all kinds of music".
There's no country from the American continent, even Europe with no musical influences, sometimes in a definitely way, by Caribbean rhythms and melodies.
CUBADISCO 2004 will be a space for reflection on our music, where the most important record production for every country will be exposed. Exhibitors, professional visitors and businessmen of music industry will have a place for enjoyment and business.
